Join our established, leading insurance network client is seeking an experienced Personal Lines Risk Specialist (Underwriter)!
What You’ll Do:
Participate in and successfully complete a training program, including obtaining your state Property & Casualty (P&C) license.
Handle inbound underwriting requests from sub-agents by quoting, recommending, reviewing, and binding insurance coverage.
Apply sales techniques such as securing critical risk information, identifying and overcoming objections, generating interest, asking for the sale, and conducting follow-ups to convert leads.
Use consultative skills to identify and analyze customer needs, ensuring high satisfaction, proper coverage, and customer education.
Exercise independent judgment to evaluate complex risks and determine appropriate coverage terms.
Develop underwriting strategies and contribute to product design.
Build rapport and maintain professional relationships with sub-agents.
Identify and measure how to place business with the appropriate carrier and coverage type (e.g., Standard, Non-Standard, High Value).
Identify cross-selling and packaging opportunities to generate new revenue from additional lines of coverage.
Maintain accurate data in systems to reflect account activity.
Collect underwriting information from sub-agents and submit it to the appropriate company representative.
Manage relationships with carrier partners at a strategic level.
Operate with minimal supervision, setting your own workflow priorities.
What We’re Looking For:
2+ years of related work experience (e.g., in an office, carrier, agency, broker, or call center environment).
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred); ability to obtain and maintain a P&C License (active license preferred).
Strong desire to learn, tenacity, strong sense of self, and emotional maturity
Exceptional customer service, strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to handle customers professionally.
Understanding of sales techniques; detail-oriented mindset.
Proficient business computer application skills, including MS Office software.
Strong organization and time management skills; ability to multitask using the phone and multiple computer programs simultaneously; ability to adapt to a changing environment.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment; ability to identify workplace opportunities and offer solutions.
Ability to make independent, customer-focused decisions; ability to adhere to a schedule and be accountable for results.
